Get Into the Garden with Alexandria Schools!

Okay, Gardeners, now’s your chance to get involved in Eco-City efforts by contributing your time in helping ACPS with its school gardens!  This will be especially fun for those of you who love to garden – or think you might love to garden – but have no space!  Wendy Sparrow of ACPS has asked me to post the following call for volunteers:

Alexandria City Public Schools have educational gardens at 13 of their schools.  Children participate in a variety of activities that enhance the school curriculum in these outdoor classrooms.  Volunteers are a very important component for ensuring the success of the schoolyard gardens’ programs.  Throughout the year volunteers help maintain the gardens and assist with special outdoor educational projects. Gardening experience is helpful, but not necessary to volunteeer in the outdoor classrooms.  If you enjoy the outdoors and can volunteer some of your time in any of our schools’ gardens, please contact Wendy Sparrow at or #703-209-1985.

So get your gloves on, your trowel ready, and get gardening!
